Red Roses...

“Vivaan” she shouts from the stairs.

He can recognize this voice even in the noisiest places possible ever. It has been only three years since he heard her for the first time but today she became the most affable vocal cords for him. His day starts with her wake up calls and ends with her good night wishes. Their friends have declared them ‘Inseparables’, those who don’t know them closely, perceive them as a couple. The warmth and fondness towards each other keep them ignorant of outside world.

He turned towards the voice and he was unaware when smile caught his face.

She was trying hard to hide her glee but when she looked again at Vivvan’s face, she burst into laughter.

“Hahahhahaha… ” she kept laughing uncontrollably.

“Hey shut up! Examiner threw me out of the hall and you are laughing??” he said mocking fury.

“Why you were looking back in the exam hall and making faces at me?” she continued laughing

“Because you did that first” he defended

“I was just trying to mock your blank face which was as blank as your exam sheets.” She teased him

“Why did you look back at all?” she rag him again

“I will kill you for yours ‘why’; why you threw pen at me?” he asked irritatingly

“Because you were not noticing me for an hour and was missing you dumbo” she replied softly with her cordial smile, the magical smile which overshadows each and every other expression from both of them. Vivaan looked at her eyes, his heart said something to himself and he looked more composed.

It was Sunday of February. Dawn and dusks are chilly and rest day remain pleasant.

Cell beeps Mohabbatein’s tone and screen is reading “Stupida calling…”. Neena pounced on it and shouted over call “I tried to call you thousand times, why you own a phone at all if you keep it switched off?” She screamed over the phone.

“Hey, chill. Dad is out of town and I got to take mom to doctor” he said

“Why? What happened to Aunty? Is she alright?” she asked with apprehension

“Yes, she was feeling some restlessness and pain in her left hand. Doc has consulted some diagnosis, report will be out by evening” he replied.

“Make her rest, I am coming over there” she answered and disconnected the call before Vivaan could say anything.

In next half an hour she was at Vivaan’s home.

“He is too dumbo but aunty you could have called me” – she complained and pass and angry look at Vivaan.  Now take rest, I will get tea for you. She left without hearing any replied and shouted from the kitchen - “If anyone else needs tea, help himself”. Vivaan and his mother caught a grin.

Very soon she returned with some snacks and three cup of tea. Vivaan leaned on the table to get his cup, Neena threw a look at him, and he paused in the way” Vivaan’s mother giggles and three of them burst into laughter

“Why don’t you marry him and become our family member?” Vivaan’s mother cajoled

“Marry? Him?? Not in my dreams… we are just friends and I am already part of your family Aunty.. didn’t I??” she said and made a baby face. Vivaan’s mother pulled her and taps her cheeks with fondness and gave a smile.
Vivaan was looking at both of them. His heart whisper something to him and a smile emerge to his face.

Sun is dipping faster behind the farsighted mountains. Clock is showing six in the evening. Neena was at her home and reading through some journal.

Her cell rings and she picked the call and said..”Wasssup stupid”

“Neen….” a fainted voice heard and nothing was audible post that except chaos of crowd.
